Sylwia Makris was born in 1973 in Gdynia, Poland. After graduating from the Magdalena Abakanowicz State High School of Fine Arts in Gdynia Orłowo, she initially worked as a sculptor before discovering photography in 2007. In her work, Makris combines photography with traditional painting and craftsmanship techniques. Her works have been exhibited in venues such as the foyer of the Kunsthalle of the Hypo Cultural Foundation in Munich, the Underdog Gallery in London, the Last Rites Gallery in New York, and the Plenum in Gdańsk. Makris currently works as an independent photographer in Munich.
